AN OPEN LETTER TO PROSECUTING ATTORNEY BILL NASH: granddaughter was molested by her step-father

I apologize for using this forum to air my grievances with your office but, since emails and telephone calls have gone unanswered, I feel that I need to use whatever venue is available to insure that my granddaughter's interests are protected.

Approximately 2 months ago Detective Sergeant Faust of the Columbus PD turned an evidence file to your office attesting to the fact that my granddaughter was molested by her step-father while staying with him and her mother in Bartholomew County.

We have tried several times since then to find out if your office was going to prosecute this case, but our queries go unanswered by your victims advocate and staff.  We are continually told that the prosecutors are reviewing it, but they will not give us any guidance as to when they might decide, or even if they will decide at all.

I understand that a city as large as yours has an equally large workload, and if this were a lesser case I would be less apt to pursue this matter with as much diligence, but a pedophile is walking the streets and although he has been arrested in Marion County for felony child molestation in their county, the same happened in your county, and your office is seemingly ignoring this matter.

I also understand about appropriated (public) funds and the need to be a good steward of those funds, but how do I tell my granddaughter that law enforcement in Bartholomew County has chosen to abstain in this case after she endured all the abuse that she did.  She did all the right things.  She told school officials in Bartholomew Co. and was told to tell her mother.

She tried to tell people in the apartment complex that she stayed at (in Bartholomew Co) and her mother told everyone that she had mental issues.  When Dept. of Children's Services was contacted they went to her mother's apartment and simply ask my granddaughter in their presence if she had been molested by her stepfather.  What did they expect her say in that situation?

She had been repeatedly threatened by both individuals.   Soon after they took my granddaughter to another county and continued the abuse and DCS lost track of her.  She was failed by many people and now the question is will she be failed again?

Mr. Nash, they say that you’re a good man and I have no reason not to believe this.  My question is simply "what would you do in a similar situation if it was your daughter, granddaughter, niece, etc.?" Statistics state that a pedophile on average will molest at least 30 children before he gets caught, and I'm sure he walks your streets on a regular basis.  Does that not make anyone nervous?

Is Bartholomew Co. going to prosecute or not, and if not, I hope that you'll be the person to tell my granddaughter why.  Thank you for your time.

I feel this prosecutor does not like to deal with molestation charges. I know a young lady that was molested by another student at her high school here in Columbus in 2010. During the hearing to have a restraining order against this boy, he admitted to the judge that what she said was true. Columbus Police were very nice, but once the information was turned over to the prosecutors office it died. Months later they received a phone call from the detective in charge & he wanted to know if the girl would still testify against this boy. He said they had had a number of other girls admit to them that he had done the same thing to them & thought that all together they would have a great case against this boy. So here they have him admitting to a judge he did it and other girls saying he had done it to them and yet again the prosecutors office wouldn't do their job and prosecute! It isn't an easy thing to have to retell her story over & over, but this brave young lady was willing to do so so that other girls wouldn't suffer the same way she had because of this boy. Yet he did it again and again because of no charges against him. What does it take???

This is awful, They are arresting people over tons of other reasons , you'd think they would make molestation a priority. It makes me sick to my stomach to know they haven't done anything about this. You are so right, What if God forbid something happened to a child in their life. Then they would do anything to make it as right as possible. It's selfish. I just can't believe they haven't done anything about this. Kids are our future and they are just standing by while all these creeps walk the streets. Not to mention the fact that when these horrible people do go to jail/prison, it's hardly ever a long term. I say give them life. Makes me so sick.. I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. So so sorry. I pray for the absolute best for you and your family.

There must be more to this story that we're not hearing.
Maybe there should be an arrest made before prosecution, and there IS such a thing as Due Process of the Law.
If this guy is guilty, there is a legal course of action to be taken. It doesn't look like that is being done here.
And to come here, Columbuzz, to report child molestation, is ridiculous.

What in the wide, wide world does martial law have to do with this topic? Nothing.

The above comment is not my entire comment. Columbuzz has censored/edited my original comment. Free speech here? Nope.

*****ADMIN: That's because you were calling other commenters from the Columbus area stupid. If you don't like our 'censoring', go elsewhere. You are free to write what you like. We are free to delete the stupidity from it before we post it.*******

Generally, military personnel replace civil authorities and perform some or all of their functions.

In full-scale martial law, the highest-ranking military officer would take over, or be installed, as the military governor or as head of the government, thus removing all power from the previous executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government.< maybe this is what is meant in reference to martial law....

maybe this definition is what the replier meant by " martial law "
