CASA for Kids Playhouse Visiting Labor Day Festival

North Vernon – Advocates for Children announced today that their CASA Kids Theatre will be on hand for this week’s Labor Day Festival in North Vernon, from Friday August 31 through Sunday, September 2.

The playhouse is a part of the CASA for Kids Playhouse Raffle, sponsored by the Jolie Crider Reach-Out fund.  The event features full-sized playhouses constructed by local supporters which travel Advocates for Children’s service area raising funds and awareness for the agency’s mission to recruit and train Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers who fight to protect the rights of children who have been the victims of abuse and neglect.

“I’m especially glad to see this playhouse at the North Vernon event,” said Rick Scalf, Advocates for Children’s Community Outreach Coordinator.  “The Theatre was constructed here in town by Jim Clarkson’s Advanced Construction Techniques class at Jennings County High, and it just might be their best one yet.”

The playhouse includes a marquee with working lights, a fold down screen on the inside, and a shelf and outlet where a projector can be placed for children to watch movies inside.  Tickets for a chance to win the playhouse are $1 apiece or $5 for 8 and can be purchased at Miller’s Chiropractic Clinic located at 209 S. State Street over the weekend, or at Advocates for Children’s website,  apowerfulvoice.org.  The playhouse will be raffled on 11/12/12 at 1:00 PM.
