West Nile near Lincoln Park, reported earlier in July on The Republic hasn't been found or corrected yet, but Scott with Bartholomew County Health Dept. says everyone can do their part by looking for buckets, pools etc. with standing water.

"Where there's water in the drought-plagued Columbus, it's stagnant water — the Culex mosquito's favorite breeding habitat. The heat also speeds up the mosquito's life cycle, which means more breeding and more mosquitoes, and accelerates the West Nile virus replication process."

Reports of Frank Anderson Tire, with the overstock of tires out back are the breeding ground for the virus. But Scott, BCHD, said tires were the first thought and after a check of their tires, they were clean and dry.

While Frank Anderson does have awnings over the overstock of tires out back, some tires are exposed to the weather and could have some water buildup.

A volunteer for the Health department drove extensively through the area neighborhood near the park looking for breeding grounds.

They discovered some questionable places which could be home of the  mosquitos. The homes discovered with items containing standing water were sent a letter explaining the situation and what they should do.

Scott, with the Health Department, mentioned everyone could do their part by empting all items that could capture water, buckets, tires, pools, cups, trash bins, lids etc.
