Gravitron injures boy at 4H, requires medical treatment - but ride deemed safe

It is one of the most addictive rides (for the younger generation) at the 4H-fair outside of the one other ride... you know the one in the corner that plays the dreaded loud music - they call that Alpine Bob.

A couple days ago, witnesses saw crews cleaning the Gravitron because a boy was injured while riding it.

"We saw all these people in different uniforms come up. Saw a poor young man being checked out. They had a white towel on the back of his head. Not sure if it had ice it in. And lady was checking his eyes"

What happened was as the Gravitron started to spin and the panels you lean against in the ride slid upwards, the boy's head struck something that caused a gash requiring stitches.

This poses the question, how could that have happened? So we asked last night when we visited the fair... they wanted to remain anonymous.

A carnie who operates the ride said... it's pretty safe, you lean against the seats and the ride picks up speed. Then the seats rise up the wall about 1 and a 1/2 feet. You can`t move forward or to the side, so you can`t get hurt. There are no accidents on this ride, or shouldn't be, the other night was just a fluke. We hope the kid is OK"

We spoke to one kid who said "It goes round and round causing me to lose feeling in everything, except my stomach going upside down. I wasn't uncomfortable, just felt really weird. I ride it every year about 20 times, I absolutely love it."

That's not a picture of the Gravitron, that is clearly a picture of the Starship 2000. Why would you claim it is a picture of the Gravitron when it says, right in the picture, that it is the Starship 2000?
And we are supposed to believe the rest of the un-sourced content of the article?

If you write a story about a Dalmation, you don't show a picture of a Beagle.

I know. I just saw that and laughed out loud. They had to have done that on purpose. Nobody is that dumb.

Ah... I see. I thought your comment came after the story. But figured they were doing it to mess around because nobody is that stupid.

Both rides may operate the same way, but Gravitron and Starship 2000 are not the same ride

Same concept made by different company.Semantics. Like saying a Ford isn't a car because it's not made by Chevy. Err well actually I kind of agree with that. But any way if todays kids are anything like us we used to jump up as high as we could on the back rest and when the centrifugal force kicks in occasionally we would be to high and our heads would hit something that wasn't padded. Kids being kids. Hey but I'm sure it's all the fairs fault when it makes it to the courtroom

You're right, but backwards. Saying Starship 2000 is Gravitron, is like saying a Ford is a Chevy. They are both cars, but very different cars. Looks like the photo has been replaced, either way.
We weren't there but yeah, kids will be kids...and besides, we don't know if this story contains all facts, all assumptions, or some of both.

Doubt?
Like the story about the man with a knife allegedly cutting just one person when it was actually more than one, or that the alleged offender was named here....THE WRONG NAME....the kind of doubt that many stories posted here contain misinformation, or inaccuracies? Is that what you mean by "doubt".
You are easily amazed.

What's amazing is the addictive draw sources of misinformation, inaccuracies, misspellings, and poor grammer has on people to lure them into returning and expressing their discontent with it......LOL.
