A man police said lived at 5250 Regency Dr,  Lee T. Bybee, 26,  was reportedly drunk, having been drinking all day, but when he decided to get out his pellet gun and wave it around outside at passing vehicles is when he was almost shot by police.

It was said, he had been drinking since about 9 am and was yelling and pointed the gun at a neighbor.

Then, when someone drove past, they watched the man pull the cocking mechanism back on the gun then he pointed it at them but brought it down and stared at them. Police were called, and when they arrived...

That's when the man took off on foot and officers gave chase with guns drawn.

When they caught up to the man, they arrested him while officers pointed shotguns at him. Officers said he was lucky he didn't get shot, because he waved the AirSoft pellet gun at them too.

Police said he taped over the orange tip, so it looked very real.

Another witness said they saw 5 cops or more running down Regency Dr with guns in their hands chasing someone with a gun and arrested the man.

More info to come I'm sure... or we will be corrected.

"when a passerby drove passed"

I had to read that about 5 times to get what was trying to be said. I thought someone died.
I think you meant, "when a passerby drove past".

This is the same neighborhood as the eggings. I also live in this neighborhood and pass this area daily on my runs/bike rides. I hope this is a one time incident and not a preview of problems to come!

Not a typo. The word was spelled incorrectly throughout the story. Typos occur when someone accidentally hits the wrong key, or misses a key.
Using the wrong word is the result of someone not knowing any better.

Lisa, I know when I get typing in a hurry, Lord knows what keys I may hit. I have problems w dyslexia. I don't know how many times I have typed the letters of a word swtiched around. Numbers are tricky too. I guess I try not to get my panites in a wad anymore. It takes up weigh to much energy...now that there is sum good grammer...oh my fone is ringing...yes, the English language is fun.....

To help those less educated than yourself, is a virtue.
I just can't understand how adults running a website seem to have succeeded no further than the eighth grade, when it comes to literacy...amongst other things.
I think if it were me, I would find it very embarrassing.

Lisa, did you know you used the British version of "among?" Kinda like the word GREY is the Brit version of gray. You can choose to what you want, but you don't have to be so formal among the readers....

Lisa 25/05/2012 14:44:10
Formal? No. "Amongst" is just an old style way of saying "among". It is not British, but the British still use this form frequently. I guess they're behind the times?

It's not being formal, however this site COULD use a little class.

Amongst is old English. It's not as commonly used as among. In fact, when you look up amongst, you get among. And as far as that waive thing, if you read the sentence, you know which waive they mean. It's common knowledge, the admins don't proofread letters that come in. I always don't proofread, but that's the fun of the language; it's so challenging. It's not worth your effort to get your knicker in knots over stuff like this. this site isn't formal....

So judgmental! I don't think it means they are less educated, maybe just that they are not so anal..geez
From what I understand anyone can comment and anyone can submit an article sometimes they have to be moderated and sometimes they automatically post. So your "logic" is not totally accurate.

I am referring to grammar, spelling, sntence structure, etc.
It has nothing to do with anybody being anal or not.
Surely you don't believe that the less educated one is, the less anal they are.

So does this mean you are less educated than an 8th grader?
I don't think so, but it proves the point that it happens and does not mean that anyone is lacking in education just because they are not focused on being perfect.

Who cares Lisa; I just give people the benefit of the doubt, because I have done the same thing. I do have the faculties to know which waive they meant, just from the sentence. Your panties are too tight, either that or your bra, to be so high strung, on a simple sight. I suppose you meant to leave the E out of sentence....I could figure out what word you meant...

I had teachers in school that were very "picky". They insisted that 2+2=4, and no other answer was acceptable! How picky is that! My history teacher was so picky, he claimed that JFK died in 1963. '63, '64, '65.....who cares? It's close enough.
Oh, and my bank. They are soooooooo picky! I withdrew $20 and they deducted it from my account!!!!!! It's just $20. Who cares?
When I was a teen, I operated a cash register at a local business. Can you believe that CUSTOMERS WANTED EXACT CHANGE!!!!? Stupid picky people.

My assessment of this issue: You can't teach an idiot, especially when they don't understand the English language.

Being taught by nuns was pretty rough. Now they were very particular. I think part of the blame lies on schools. Teachers have ovetsized classes, less teacher-student ratio, and Mitch is cutting back on teachers. It's no wonder wht Asians are brighter. In my school dayd, they held students back. Now they just pass them along. Parent(s) today dont have the time needed to help their kids. Many dont care. Whats sad is there is more interest in sports, than academics.

Logic dictates that comments submitted on this page are directed at the author of this page's story or an Admin of this site, unless the commenter specifically addresses an individual, replies to a posted comment, or quotes the individual being addressed, as I have done here.

BTW, you are correct, however the question seems to be a bit over your head.

Miss Melissa, as always, you are spot on...an BL, you're a hoot. ...Lisa, don't underestimate BL...I forgot about the automatic posts, then editing couldn't be corrected???? I try not to be so anal on here anymore. I have talked about the articles being corrected to Jeremy.

How scary this incident would be. Do I dare say anything about the CPD?? I'm just happy no one was hurt. I think tasers aren't used that much. A guy in Bloomington was naked, had a real gun shooting randomly, hyped up on drugs, the police shot him in the leg.

Did anyone read the article about more people are killed w guns than in wrecks. But, it's not the guns that kill, it's the people who do.

Is it anal to expect adults to know the difference between "waive" and "wave"???????
Is it anal to expect adults to know the difference between "their" and "there"????
Is it anal to expect adults to know the difference between "then" and "than"?????
Americans are quickly becoming stupid, partly because people don't want to seem "anal", or "who cares", or "why does it matter", or "I was in a hurry", or "well, you knew what I meant".
Personal standards are important for many reasons. I feel sorry for those who don't care much for their own standards. It says a lot about their character.
Anal? Is that how people are described who don't agree, or try to educate others who don't know?

Well I was the one that said anal to begin with so ... no where did I say:
that how people are described who don't agree, or try to educate others who don't know

Americans are quickly becoming stupid, partly because people don't want to seem "anal", or "who cares", or "why does it matter", or "I was in a hurry", or "well, you knew what I meant".

Just because a person does not correct themselves does not make them stupid or that they did not know the difference between the words or how they are accurately spelled.

I said anal in the sense that a person feels the need to hover over every single solitary sentence, word, or paragraph and point out someone else's flaws or mistakes. So maybe anal was wrong...maybe rude or hypocritical would have been better? How would you explain it? It is not the need or motive of educating these people for their mistakes it was clear need to throw it in their faces.

My point Lisa is that even you her holiness made a error in your writing, so can you not see how easy it is to make a mistake? Does that automatically mean you are not educated? I think not, just like these other people who miss-typed are educated I am sure.

LOL Omitting a letter because the key that was pressed wasn't pressed hard enough, is not comparable to not knowing the difference between the words 'waive' and 'wave'. If you don't understand this comment, I can't make it any simpler for you.

I do understand your comment, my point is how in the world do you know if they were just hurried or if they actually do not know the difference between the words? You don't you just assume because they did not feel the need to be perfect or recheck what they wrote that they lack education. Some people write their thoughts so fast do to emotions, lack of time or any number of other scenarios, that does not make them stupid. It makes them human. I did not see anywhere on this site that says whomever made these errors did not know the difference between the two words. This is where I will stop with this conversation.
