CANstruction 2012 brings the Beans,Tuna and more to those in need!

Saturday participants in the Canstruction competition spent hours erecting and engineered their structures of art simply made from “Cans of Food”. 

At first glance the designs look simple, but a closer look will show much more precise thinking, planning, time, patience, and skill which were required to pull off their masterpieces.  

You can see the Canstruction’s until February 26th when participants and local food pantries will disassemble the 11K+ of cans used to create all the structures.

The following food pantries will disperse the food donated from the competition throughout our county to families in need. “Hope Food Bank- Hope Community Center, Human Services Inc., Love Chapel Center, Salvation Army”

This year’s teams are: United Way of Bartholomew County, Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing, Starving Artists, Columbus Sunrise Rotary Club, Columbus East Senior Jasmine Santos and Cummins Inc. The 6 teams of 5 used 11,722 cans of beans, tuna, carrots, potatoes, peas, fruit, diced tomato, soup and for the first time Mac & Cheese (box) to create the 6, 3D dimensional shapes.

Here is the builds: (for the second time) the 2nd Street Bridge, a Red Velvet Cake, A Ball Cap (hat), Fork-lift, Big Wheel and I don't know... The further back you are from the canstructure the eye can adjust allowing you to process the idea the builders wanted.
