his actions over the last month or so show how much he really cared about being a mayor. I.E. Trying to cancel the Chrismas tree lighting, deciding not to pick the christmas card winner, skipping a city council meeting when he had to have known he would have to break a tie vote, and now talking on the phone during the parade.

What does he care, he already got another job lined up anyway.

Lameduck Mayors. Usually Mayors love their city so much they continue through at least serving the City properly and representing it without disgracing it. I guess there is always an exception to the rule, though.

How many lame-duck mayors do you have knowledge of Phil? You try to come across as an expert in municipal government but me thinks you are nothing more than a rebel rouser who is prepared to gladly throw YOUR newly elected Mayor and Council under the bus if you don't get your tea-party ways.

Don't worry, I will be here to remind you when things aren't going your way. FYI I truly expect our first "flare" before Valentines Day. Happy New Year Phil!

May I remind you 101, that just as the current administration is OUR mayor and OUR council, the newly elected will be OUR mayor and Our City Council, whether you like them or not.

It is the attitude you display that is running wildly through this land from Washington DC to the home turf here in Columbus. The newly elected deserves to have a chance. And certainly 101, you are more than welcome to come to the council meetings and give your opinion.

How many meetings have you gone to? How many times have you asked questions? I would encourage you and everyone to take a vested interest in the community and go to these meetings. If you don't like who you have in as the council, why don't you run for the office instead of whining and crying?

Get active, be objective, be truthful, be constructive and speak with facts.

Merry Christmas!

IDK...I get the feeling 101 knows his way around, and has been at meetings. I've been sleep deprived, so maybe my "vibes" are off. But, I always listen to what mom told me, "Trust your gut..."...I need to go nap while the natives are all nestled, and sleeping.

Your comments show your own ignorance of me and matters at hand. You know not what I know or whom I know. you are just a flamer and a troll. Witless and without understanding of what is going on around you. While you blindly follow your establishment over the cliff like a lemming, other people are keeping their eyes open and watching without bias toward one person, but to their own sets of ideals and expectations.

If anyone in government should happen to do something or attempt to do something contrary to responsible governance, then I will mention it and offer alternatives and a right approach. It is what I have always done, it is what I shall continue to do.

There are currently no buses to throw people under, they are all being used to pick up Sue Chapple's friends from bars or her from the airport when she gets off her vacations. Sorry to disappoint you.

My comments stand. Phil still has not answered as to how many lame duck Mayor's his is familiar with. Kind of hard to answer when you are wet behind the ears. Unlike you Phil, I am not ready to throw an entire governing body under the bus the way you did THE ENTIRE current administration because things weren't going your way. And stop your disingenuous assaults by trying to tie me to Washington. Washington HAS NOTHING TO DO with Columbus City Hall. All politics are local Phil or don't they teach you that in college?

I have not been commenting for as long as this administration has been around. Only for the last 3 years and my comments extend back to event 6-8 years ago. So your claim is unjustified. Actually, if you read my comments, I thank Armstrong for his first 8 years. Crime took a dive and Armstrong was not squandering the great economic boom he had inherited from the former administration which furnished many of the Japanese companies who now do business in Columbus.

it's the last 8 years I have a qualm with.

I never tied you to Washington. Please read my comments carefully before you falsely accuse me of saying something I never did.

on that subject, Washington does have some impact. unfunded mandates, though usually handled at the State level, are sometimes handed down to local governments.

All politics are not local. That is the whole point of federalism. The general government should govern the entire nation generally, the States should pick up from there and use their powers to be specific in their governance of the State. depending on the State, local governments then take care of protecting the citizens and providing public goods responsibly. Maybe you learned your politics from college, which would suprise me very much for all the comments you have made on this site, but politics cannot be taught. politics must be experienced and studied. have you read hobbes? lock? Adam Smith? Milton Friedman? Hayeck? Thomas Jefferson? Andrew Carnegie? George Washington? Benjamin Franklin? I should say not.

I digress, unfortunately, for your red herrings.

The only reason you are not willing to question your establishment is because you are probably benefiting under the table from them, are friends with them, are too blind to see what is really going on, or just do not have a clue. I cannot say which it is, but it has to be one of those. 2/3 of Columbus know that what is going on is not right. I cannot believe you sit and watch millions irresponsibly bonded, putting us over our debt limit and you take no offense to that. It's not throwing people under a bus. you use that term incorrectly. That term is likened to a scape goat. person a causes person b (who is NOT responsible for something) to take the fall and act as scapegoat because person a is responsible for something and wants to cover it up so no one knows about it.

Pointing out that MY government officials are not representing me or my fellow citizens or are acting irresponsibly with taxdollars is not throwing someone under the bus. The last time I recalled, that is called patriotism. on a local level it is known as being a good citizen. People who just sit by and let bad things happen are not good citizens. It is probably why we have come to the point we are at today. Not enough people spoke up until now.

2/3 of Columbus voters. an intro to politics class would probably teach you that voters felt very strongly against the current plans and methods of the government. That is why the change from the establishment to something that stands on openness, ethics (which we are finding more and more are needed BADLY), accountability, and responsibility in governance.

Long comment. too long. too many red herrings to chase.

Phil, listen carefully. I am not part of this administration. I am not benefitting from any "under the table" deals. I am not involved in city government to the extent you think you are. You are wrong more than you are right but I will allow for some political ignorance. The 2/3 that you say "know" things are going on that "are not right" is a LIE unless you can produce specific polling data that proves your inane theory. The current administration and council WERE NOT CANDIDATES for re-election. We can split hairs over the demise of Priscilla Scalf, it's water under the bridge, but besides Priscilla, Jim Lienhoop was the ONLY candidate seeking re-election.

Columbus voters chose a new course Phil and as hard as it is for you to swallow, the SWAIM factor, including Papa Joe, was nowhere near as powerful as you think. Like Judy Jackson, I hope the new mayor and council succeed as well and will grant them plenty of opportunity to get started. You and your ilk have set an impossibly high bar for these people to reach and the malcontents that you rallied to get you gal in office will not sit idly by. If you think they will, it is YOU who needs schooled in Columbus politics.

The people that you have surrounded yourselves with are, by and large, the biggest group of malcontents EVER to participate in an election. The reality is Phil that the very people you encouraged with your rhetoric are now going to DEMAND results, as they should, after all YOU PROMISED THEM!

I hope the mayor fires Chapple. and can I be a flamer and a troll. I used to have troll dolls, and braided their hair. Now, if a flamer has something to do with fire, then I'll need fireguy's help LOL...

Poilitics 101

I, for one, am ecstatic that you ARE NOT part of this administartion! But it does sound like you have lost something in the aftermath of the latest elections. Maybe your gravy train? You say "I am not involved in city government to the extent you think you are." I hear, " I am involved but only in the shadows."

Your statements only prove that you don't know what or WHO you are talking about, thus making you look like an idiot.

You said "We can split hairs over the demise of Priscilla Scalf, it's water under the bridge, but besides Priscilla, Jim Lienhoop was the ONLY candidate seeking re-election." Let's talk about who is wrong here...that would be YOU.

Jim Leinhoop was NOT seeking RE-election at all...HE WAS NEVER ELECTED IN THE FIRST PLACE!! Jim Leinhoop was APPOINTED after Craig Hawes vacated his Council seat.

You said "You and your ilk have set an impossibly high bar for these people to reach and the malcontents that you rallied to get you gal in office will not sit idly by. If you think they will, it is YOU who needs schooled in Columbus politics." I say you seem very brave to call 67% of the voters "Malcontents" from the comfort of your easy chair and keyboard. But you are right about one thing, we did demand results, were told "it's none of your damn business!" by the current City Council and VOTED THEM OUT! Yes I will demand results...and my VOTE will back me up.

Politics 101, sadly you are the very type of person that Columbus has had enough of! You say "Malcontents" I hear "Naysayers", you cry fowl, I hear whining coming from a disgruntled loud mouth whose candidate lost.

I highly encourage you to step out from behind you PC, put on a hat,(the sun may blind you)...and learn what is actually going on in the city you so willingly defend...

Oh and by the way...Revolutions are started by those who have the courage to actually challenge the status quo and not sit idol on the side throwing stones.

LOL! I love it when tea-baggers and malcontents get mad. First of all, I never suggested that EVERYONE who supported Mayor-Elect Brown was a malcontent. Phil Swaim and company do not have that kind of reach. Jim Lienhoop and Priscilla Scalf were the only people under the current administration to seek election or re-election. Your point is made.

As for your ASSumption that my candidate lost, you could not be more wrong. My problem is NOT with Mayor-Elect Brown, it's with idiots like you that would throw 16 years of progress and success AWAY to make a point. Who EXACTLY told you "it's none of your damn business?" WHO, WHEN AND WHERE did this happen?

The only disgruntled big mouths are the minority of the majority that put this new administration in. People like YOU that won't let go of the past without vile and unfounded comments.
