We received a report of a phone scam going on in Johnson County. The scam - you receive a phone call telling you, you've won a $500 voucher and $100 gift card, provided you pay $2.95 shipping and handling with a credit card.

Once you are told you won, they ask for your address to send the items and your card number. If it sounds too good to be true... IT IS!

The number they call from is 205-786-5216, but when you attempt to call it back it says disconnected. This is the season people attempt to scam you, who wouldn't want $600 just before the holidays?

Everyone would and paying $2.95 is cheap; realizing the amount is low to pay could cost you more in the long run, making your holiday a bad one.
