Ask a Cop - Passing vehicles within a passing zone, can we exceed posted speed limit

Q: When following behind a slow driver and you notice you're in the passing zone, is it OK to exceed the posted limit to pass? 

A: If you are in a situation where you need to pass (in a passing zone) make sure you signal and DO NOT exceed past the posted limit or you could be pulled over and given a citation for speeding.
