JOE WILLY'S - "We Just Found a New Favorite Place to Eat"

image

Joe Willy's Burger Bar. You're gonna love it!

Everyone loves to go to Greenwood to eat dinner. I never understood that. I always hated the drive.

We had all of the main chain restaurants here. Then we started getting the mexican food places. I could eat mexican food every other day. I might start getting my mail at Riviera Maya, I am there so much!

We had Smith's Row and Bistro 310. It's nice to take out a small mortgage for dinner once in a while then go home hungry. Then the home loan rate for dinner started seeming normal, the way prices were going up everywhere you looked.

Columbus Bar and 4th Street Bar have been here forever, and nobody can say anything bad about their food or their prices. But they have been here forever. The Brick. Oooohhh. Lucas Brothers. Wow. Kramers. Yum. Shorty's tenderloins. Skooters home cookin'. and on and on and on.

Next, get a mayor and city council that do all they can to make sure the downtown doesn't die. A parking garage here, a new mall there, a few thousand new jobs, new apartments, some personality, and BOOM, you have an infestation of new and interesting places to eat.

Scotty's Burgers. YUUUMMY! Great food, high prices, but who cares? Great service, gorgeous women, unusual building.....  A new favorite place to eat.

A new pizza place next door, that I haven't tried.

Zwanzigz Pizza a few blocks away on 11th St. OH! Absolutely the BEST pizza in town! And I hate the taste of beer. But I try the beer they make every chance I get. OMG!!!!

Point is, we have more places to eat in Columbus than we can ever get tired of. If you eat out enough to get tired of the restaurants we have in this county, you spend entirely too much on eating out, and you probably should own stock in Weight Watchers. You will be your biggest client, Tubby.

Now, the point of this article.....

JOE WILLY'S BURGER BAR

At 11th and Washington St.

The name needs an ! or two behind it.

My wife and I, and her sister and hubby, eat at 5:00 somewhere every Friday. We go at 5:00 to outsmart the majority that goes at 6:00. We have loved that little secret for 15 years.

Joe Willy's has a decent set of parking spots. Normal for a local business. A lot for a downtown restaurant.

We pulled in at 4:50 and got the last parking spot.

We walked to the door, and people were eating outside. Unless I'm camping or on a picnic, I eat under roof. That and the parking made me think the place was packed. It was not. No wait for a table.

The front desk is actually in what was a front porch years gone by. The inside of the old house has been painted a million times and it didn't look like they were careful with the paint. I was expecting a neat remodeled interior. I'm not sure why. It doesn't matter what I expected, the place was gorgeous inside.

The woman took us through the middle of the place and down some steps to what used to be the carport.

Now some places(Cracker Barrel comes to mind), like to seat 6 people at a table for 4. Joe Willy's sat us 4 at a table for 6.

Our waiter was very good and very friendly. He kept our drinks filled and asked us several times if everything was okay. He recognized one of us as an old neighbor and his friendliness increased.

I ordered the Chicago Dog. It was great! It came with fries for $5.99. Drinks are $1.79. The wife and I had the artichoke dip as an appetizer and I had a bowl of chili. I thought the bowl of chili should have been bigger for $3.29, but it was delicious.

The women had cheesecake for dessert. It was fantastic!

The wife had a burger, not sure which one. She said it was great.

When we left at 6:30, the place was packed and they were telling people an hour and half wait to get a table.

The food is great, the service superb, and the crowd was dealt with in a professional manner and everyone seemed content.

I HIGHLY recommend JOE WILLY'S for lunch or dinner.

Our new favorite place to eat, for now.

Columbus Man would probably find 100 things wrong with the place, the first being that he couldn't afford it.

This article is about Joe Willy's.

If you have your panties in a bunch about how Columbus Man critiques other places, take your opinions to other places.
This restaurant is GREAT. I have been there as well. We want people to know how great it is.

We don't want the discussion to change to a debate about who makes good cheap tacos or whose son can beat the crap out of somebody they couldn't find if they did have the balls to try it.

Comments will be on topic or they will be deleted. Your choice.

So contrary to this site's claim, there IS censorship here. You can say all the bad things you want about anything, or anybody, as long as it's not Columbus Man. And HE, admittedly, is the one that posted the article about the ass-kicking.

Ellery Queen, you are wrong. I only asked you to stay on topic. Take your debate about taco prices to the taco article. Otherwise your comments will be deleted.

And yes, there is censorship here. We must limit the stupidity to keep the website civil.

I simply asked you to keep petty arguments about opinions of taco prices on a roach coach and steroid bullies out of an article about a great place to eat. If that's too hard for you to comprehend, then maybe we can delete all of your comments to help limit your confusion.

For instance, if your next comment in this article isn't about the subject of this article, you won't see that comment posted. Clear enough?
