Pit Bull allegedly tased and maced by CPD on 7th and Union - people speak out with photos, videos

Police called to 7th and Union Tuesday where reports of Pit Bulls were on the loose, witnesses on the scene said one dog was tased and maced after he attempted to bite the officer. Animal control arrived moments later to remove the animals.

Account of what happened... "Ok these pit bulls have gotten loose several times they have bit different neighbors and animal control has been called each time..at one point a friend of the owners told one of the dogs to attack animal control officer so that guy got a fine also..from my understanding they all got loose and cops were called and since they have bit people before the cops came until animal control got there..."

The property manager where the dogs lived said "I'm the property manager for the property across the street and this has been an ongoing problem since these people moved in. One of my tenants was bitten by one of them. The owners leave the windows up and the dogs just jump through the screens and start wreaking havoc on the street. They are very aggressive but we all know its the owners fault. Today the dogs were charging the police officers which is why they had to take more serious action. Luckily they were subdued before the officer had to use deadly force. I can tell you from experience they are very scary dogs when they are coming after you! I hate it for the dogs but their owners have made them that way." - C Collins

Few comments from our FB wall, including the love for their animals with photos and videos. Thanks for sharing.

"I love pitbulls. It's the owner not the dog. Sure its true that the overgrowth of the brain is what causes pain it a pitbull in result triggering some to attack but if u only raise ur dog with kindness I don't think it would "attack". When my dog was only a puppy and he would bite while trying to play even then I would stop him, remember u don't want your dog to know violence so don't spank him even if that's your first reaction. Instead of spanking him when he bit I would snap, point for him to go lay down and he stayed in time out for a few minutes then we would play again until he bit again and i made him go to time out and stay there. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone. No violence and he stays until i give him permission to get up. :) he will be 10 in October and he is still the best dog I have ever had." - A Hollman

"I love all animals, but have to say: if ANY animal... Or HUMAN... hurt my child, it wouldn't be pretty.

Although I agree that a majority of animals will react to situations in the way they were raised, some breeds tend to be more aggressive than others. My brother had a Rottweiler several years ago who was a big baby. Two weeks after my nephew was born, his Rott reached up and bit my brother and had him in a hold... by his face. He ended up getting rid of him because he didn't want to pose a risk to his newborn son. My brother never did anything to "make" him mean. He just turned on him.

If "aggressive" breeds are running loose, it seems like their owners need to either hold a close watch on them... Or find them a new home. Period. If you can't be responsible for your pet(s), you don't deserve them and they simply deserve more than you can obviously give them."  - J Wright

"I love my 2 pitbulls and my parents 3 and ALL of my friends' PITS! I cannot think of any other large breed dog that I would rather have than pits. They are so loyal and lovable and SMART AS HELL! I have been on this earth for almost 33 yrs now and of all the people I know that have ever bn attacked or bitten by a dog, NOT ONE OF THESE INCIDENTS INVOLVED A PITBULL! ONE dog, that happens to be a pit, got loose and someone called animal control. I know this dog personally and people are really profiling when it comes to these animals and we dont like when that happens to us as humans so I think we should STOP doing it to pitbulls!!!!!" - N Bowles

"Idk whats up with all the pit bull posting but i figured i would put my nose it on it. lol. i absolutely love pit bulls. in fact their my favorite dog. and its NOT their fault they have the bad reputation. its all in how their raised. any dog can be mean. my 2 year old rides rides our pit like a horse. he is protective, but his bark is worse than his bite. he has never attempted to bite any of my kids and my youngest child is 2. i hate it when i take him with me to the park with the kids and people run off like their gonna get hurt. i love my pit and their are many others in this world that feel the same." - J. Truth is the Officer's were within their rights to SHOOT those dogs. People should be praising the officers for using discretion in not killing these animals. I am a firm believer in the "blame the owner, not the animal" philosophy, and know of some pit bulls that the most they would do was lick you to death, and I have known some that would just be easier to shoot them. Kudos to the officers for saving this dogs life
