Scotty's Burger Joint - "To make a long story short, I was disappointed"

Ok, just got home from trying out Scotty's Burger Joint. I have to stick to The Sandwich Shop.

After walking 2 blocks walked in and got seated pretty quickly. very dark, everything is painted black and music about twice as loud as necessary. placed our orders (the bbq burger brandon recommended) and wedge fries and waited about 20 minutes for they food to come. disappointed that they only serve Pepsi and charged an extra $1 to add cherry flavor and serving drinks in a mason jar just doesn't impress me in the least.

All in all, the burgers were pretty good but the bacon was way over cooked and when people ask for ketchup they usually want regular ketchup, not chipolte ketchup, garlic mayonnaise and hot mustard, and a teaspoon full normally isn't enough.

Really didn't enjoy sitting there listening to the wait staff discussing an ex-boyfriend who is a total queer and referring to another employee as a f**ckin faggot over and over.

Also really didn't enjoy the waitress asking 3 different times if I was finished with my plate while it still had food on it that I was still obviously eating. Actually, she only asked twice. The third time she just took it while I was using the restroom.

To make a long story short, I was disappointed. Could have gone yo The Sandwich Shop, had a burger (added bacon & bbq sauce), fries and a coke for $5 each, in a bright and friendly atmosphere instead of sitting in the dark eating a burger, fries and drink that cost $16 each. Sorry, but I won't be visiting again anytime soon.

I firmly believe in talking to management when I receive bad service and that includes listening to employees bad mouthing others. They can't fix what they do not know about.

Stay at home and make your own food. If you don't know how, use google and look up some recipes. Cook for yourself so you know what is in your food. $16 for a burger? Sounds horrible. Go to the Swine and buy some prime ground beef and make your own burger for less than $5. Way better!

Cooking is easy, fun, and very educational for your children if you involve them in the process.

I was very disappointed to read that you had a poor experience at my restaurant. There is no excuse for poor service, & for that I am sorry. But I did want to take this opportunity to respond to a few of the comments in the blog.

The ambiance of the restaurant is one that is high energy, fun & upbeat, with many televisions playing a variety of sporting events. The dark walls (they are actually gray) make it much easier for our many guests to enjoy watching them. The music also is integral part of a high energy environment. We play it low enough to have conversations at your table, but loud enough so that other tables conversations are not either overheard or intrusive on the diners experience. Our trio of sauces is served with every order of fries. This is a signature part of our experience that differentiates us from other restaurants. We always have Red Gold (a local Indiana company) ketchup available for anyone who requests it.

Many of our products are locally sourced which often causes higher costs, which in turn is reflected in more expensive pricing. Most of our beef is from Lone Pine Farms/Moody Meats, a sustainable farm located in Ladoga, In. Our craft beers are almost all local as well.

With regards to Pepsi vs. Coke, that is a matter of personal preference. We did within the last year change to Pepsi from Coke & have actually seen our beverage sales increase. Mountain Dew was a highly requested item that was not available to us previously.

Again, I apologize for the poor service, but our Scotty’s Burger Joint is doing very well, we receive many, many positive comments. We’ve also added about 100 jobs to the local economy, which is very good for the local economy.

Thank you,
