Longs Furniture on US 31 in Amity caught fire today, if you have ever driven down 31 towards Columbus from Franklin then you've seen the gigantic rocking chair out front. It started sometime around 6:45pm, the photos started coming in around 7pm - with smoke bellowing out of the building.

Reports are the inside is a total loss, several fire departments were on scene fighting the fire.

A witness at the scene said "Well its sad to say this but Long's Furniture is no longer! In fact the only thing standing is the shell of the building! Not sure what the loss was inside but from the looks of it its a Complete Loss! - L LaRue"

UPDATE - 8-13-12 1AM

Information previously posted  "Fire Chief at Clifford Fire... he said that had to be one HOT SON OF GUN fire there! With all the furniture contents and metal building! Its like a perfect fire inferno!"

Was not made by the Chief, Steve LaRue, but was gathered from Facebook and used without the knowledge of anyone. We messaged the Chief prior the posting of this article and he responded today with the follow:

"Hello Columbus man sorry I have no information for you I was not on the scene of that fire, I was helping out at German TWP Volunteer Fire Dept. fish fry. Thanks again and sorry I couldn't help. Chief LaRue"

The photo's below and above are the only things submitted to us, all the rest was gathered and placed here. At no time did we communicated with anyone at the scene of the fire, nor did we receive any statements.
