Dorel contract renewal - Voting ended today at 4:30 pm. There were 317 yes votes and 49 no.

"On July 24th we the members of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America local union 1155 overwhelmingly voted NO on a 3 year contract proposal.

The proposal would have raised insurance costs while reducing our coverage, Raised our deductible, doubled our prescription costs, ended the pension plan which many had planned on for their retirement, reduced our Christmas bonus, and allowed for pay raises that were laughable in light of the increased health costs.

We sent a message and the message was NO.

No we are not afraid of the new Right to Work laaw that big business and their republican cronies shoved down the throats of Hoosiers.

No we have not forgotten those that fought this battle before us.

No we will not allow you to do this to us.

Well they got the message and today we overwhelmingly voted YES on a new 4 year contract that is nothing like the first proposal. This contract is proof that there is power in the union. We are one and I am proud to be a part of this with all of you, SOLIDARITY FOREVER!" - Jeremy

I'm surprised that nobody was talking about this while it was going on.
