Henderson wrongly accused of trivial ‘crime’

The Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety will hold a public meeting at 4 p.m. today in the City Hall Council Chamber to announce any discipline against former Fire Chief Gary Henderson.

This is my first letter to The Republic, but I felt I needed to speak up for a pending injustice to a person who has served Columbus with honesty, dedication and a sincere interest in public safety.

Gary Henderson has served the city of Columbus for many years and is in jeopardy of having his reputation destroyed from what appears to most citizens as a “railroad job.”

When Fire Chief Gary Henderson recycled used motor oil and used the funds to pay for soft drinks and coffee for his employees at the many fire stations throughout Columbus, I need to ask what is wrong with a fire chief taking care of his employees?

This has all the appearances of a new administration seeking revenge on leaders of the last administration who served us well for many years.

I feel the citizens should ask for the hearings to be open and “transparent” as promised.

The city of Columbus should be ashamed of having a person’s career ruined by these trivial charges, and we should be better than this.

I also understand that the new mayor has the authority to fire whomever she wants to fire, but she should not use a trumped up case as the reason to do so.

He got money for oil to take care of his employees. Pretty slick.

Kristen Brown admin person resigned after only 4 months. I assume she got tired of hearing the Mayor use the F bomb in city hall. I believe Columbus needs a treatment policy to treat people with dignity and respect that work in City Hall. I also get a kick out of Kristen complaining about the newspaper not getting it right.... The Republic is so bias toward her that it makes me sick that is why I stopped taking the newspaper.
