PHOTOS - Standard of service differ's from one Ambulance to another Ambulance company

image

We received these photos of Trans-Care and Seals Ambulance service the other day with the follow statements. Then to be fair, while this may not have happened again we thought we should show what happened back in 2010 on a busy day with a CRH ambulance.

We, CRH EMT's (Ambulance) are always held to high standard and 99% of the time; we don't mess up! We pride ourselves of our image just to allow a service that allows this kind of image is a slap in the face to us.

Trans-care truck parks in front of the Walmart in the FIRELANE on the east side, they are not to park in the fire lane, unless we are there for a emergency. Not only that but the driver disappeared into the store for about 20 minutes... Yes the Driver, so that truck was not on a call because they are non 911 service as of now.

and

Seals Crew was picking up a patient from the Hospital, The staff was wearing Capri's that day due to the heat... Totally Unprofessional for this line of work.

The photo of CRH was taken at Circle K on Gladstone Ave in 2010. We asked the question "Is that CRH parked in a handicap spot" To receive this response "The ambulance would have moved quickly if someone needed the spot. It was pure accident that it was parked in that spot. I could tell it was hard to find a spot in the parking lot."

Professional standards of service is important with any company, the company issues what is expected - I believe it depends on how the employees represent the company in which they work. Not all employees portray the company negatively but one can impact other employees giving the impression it is OK to bend the rules.

When I stopped laughing at "99% of the time; we don't mess up!" - I realized that 1% of the time they DO mess up and hoped I'm never their "100th customer" that week.

If all you have to complain about is a crew wearing capris or parking in a fire lane (And ROFLMAO at "Well, CRH parked in a handicap spot, but we would have moved if we'd known, blah-blah-blah-hotcha-hotcha-hotcha" Double standard much?) you really should give it a rest.

If you've got proof of genuinely poor quality service, bring it. If all you've got is "image" issues, you should bag it.

You need to address the Columbus PD texting or facebooking while driving. Seen a lot of this. Or how much they break the basic traffic laws.

As anyone who has ever been transported by ambulance can tell, the Seals photo is obviously taken from inside the ER bay. This implies the photographer is either a CRH employee or employed by another ambulance company; either way the person was likely on duty. Also, it shows a patient, although the face here is obscured. Taking a photo of a patient without consent while on the clock breaks HIPAA rules, a federally mandated standard, and as such is illegal. I dare say that is a much worse issue than wearing capris. I now do not feel my privacy is safe in CRH ER bay, all because someone wanted to be childish aver attire. I will be bringing this to CRH's attention.

PFarrell... Don't be stupid. The face is blacked out so there's no "HIPAA" violation. And the issue with this picture is the fact that the employee is wearing capris. Regardless of the fact that this is a private ambulance company, they are still uniformed services. They should wear professional attire when on duty.

I highly doubt that this article was submitted by an actual CRH EMS employee. I've never heard any of them refer to themselves as "CRH EMT's (Ambulance)."

This poster is probably posing as an employee to put CRH EMS in a bad light.

Just an FYI, Columbus Fire is now allowing their firefighters to wear tech shorts on duty. There is nothing wrong with wearing capris or shorts. As long as the standard of patient care is not altered i personally see nothing wrong with shorts, capris or pants. None of the above alter how a patient is cared for!

I agree w IMPARTIAL OBSERVER, about wearing capri or shorts. And I agree it's not what you wear, that makes you a skilled EMT or Paramedic.. However, I personally would not want to wear either, as I don't want any bodily fluids touching my skin. Afterall, HC providers wear gloves for their protection, and I guess that's why I would wear traditional scrubs. And definately no sandals or open-toed shoes!!!!

I really am scared to see what happens with this contract! IT IS INSANE to think that the piece of trash we have as a mayor could ruin people in the city and countys chance of living. She will think she has done a good thing when someone who needed the care of an ambulance didnt get it and passed away. Then we will see how she responds to her being named on a HUGE lawsuit!

I have no infatuation with this mayor. When does something horrible on the order of Fred Armstrong, then I will bite, but so far we have seen transperancy. No closed door meetings. Everything has been out in the open.

Henderson's case is a personnel issue and should therefore be handled as a private issue between employer and employee. State laws are clear and so is case law. For hearings concerning personnel issues, it needs to be closed. This is to protect not only the employee but also the process. This isn't a trial. It's an employment matter. If this were a trial, it would be in the courthouse in the public and with criminal consequences.

According to how the contract will be written, I see that the Fire Department will have a lot of oversight on the placement of ambulances so quality standards are maintained. We have a fire chief that is very qualified in this. We have firefighters who used to work for Medic 1 and I'm sure they are being called to the table to place these ambulances. It's certainly not a Mayor decision, but a fire department decision. The problem with Fred is that he made those kinds of decisions his and he failed at making those kinds of decisions. Most of the time he just deferred the decision or told someone to lie, as we have found out about CRH's original bid 5 years ago.

I haven't seen a major decision I hate yet. Trash tax gone, CDI demolished (HUGE transparency win there; returning properties and management back to the Redevelopment Commission with oversight from City Council), sports complex stopped, flood contingency plans going forward, making sure that our police and fire dept unions are happy with the major personnel decisions she makes (unheard of!), cutting padding out of budgets where we have been greatly over allocating, investigating capital improvement needs (has not been done in a decade!). Sorry, but I see responsibility like I never saw from Armstrong. Armstrong could make the average citizen feel warm and fuzzy, but he was a spin meister and at times an outright liar (as we saw in his farewell state of the city address.)

I'm not going to say that Kristen can't do anything wrong because we had it so bad for the last 8 years at least, but I will say that compared to what we did have, we have seen increased transparency, an increased care for the common citizen, and an awareness of the taxpayers' ownership of the City. Thank God that Columbus helped grow this talent and has this kind of talent to help us when we needed it dearly.

Again, when Kristen goes off the deep end, I'll be there to publicly denounce her, but for now she is showing great care for our City. I'm proud to be from Columbus!
