Help Save the U.S. Postal Service!

Some Congressman in California wants to close on Saturdays and cut 200,000 jobs. You can help stop him!

As you know, the political scene is ugly and troubling. Be that as it may, I'm writing to ask you to make a phone call to your local congressman. Seems that Daryll Issa, R, Calif., wants to introduce a bill that would effectually destroy the Postal Service. If they succeed, not only will your mail delivery decline and it will cost you more, but, it could drastically reduce my pension and medical benefits.

So, here's the deal. If you're willing, you can call 1-888-863-6103, listen to a short message, then enter your home Zip Code. This will connect you to your congressman's ofc in DC. Tell the aide that you're calling about the possible introduction of bill HR 2309 to the floor. You can simply say that you are opposed to this bill being introduced. It is anti-business; anti-veteran; anti-worker.

Now, if you want more background and detail:

The Post Office is mandated by the U S Constitution.

The Postal Service is non-partisan.

The Postal Service does NOT use taxpayer dollars.

7 million private sector jobs are directly related to and reliant upon the Postal Service. (paper manufacturers; bulk mailers; advertisers; e-Bay; Amazon; prescription mail orders; etc.).

The bill, HR2309, if introduced, wants to eliminate Sat. delivery, which will hurt millions of small businesses. Thus, delaying your online/catalog purchases and medicines.

HR 2309 will also eliminate door-to-door delivery, which will drastically affect our senior citizens and the physically impaired.

Last, not only will it reduce postal employees by 200,000, it will hurt our veterans. The Postal Service is, if not the largest, one of the largest employers of veterans in the nation. Not only will current out of work veterans be unable to be hired as career employees at the PO, but, vets already employed will be a part of those 200,000 to lose their jobs.

So, ask your congressman to keep this bill, HR2309, from being introduced on the House floor.

If you choose to call, you know that I will greatly appreciate it. It is time to stop certain factions from destroying people's lives and families.

Also, if you should want to, pass this on to others and ask them to call. Hopefully we can stop this from being introduced.

If there is not a need then it needs to go...that simple. If they can get the mail delivered in 5 days then why do we need saturday delivery. It is a mute point IMO. Most of the world has moved on and left the U.S. mail behind.

LOL.............you forgot to mention the universe will end as we know it if the postal service is cut back. NOT.
