More choices for today's music - Qmix now has competition for listeners WIN 104.9 launched today

With the variety of stations throughout the region, depending on your radio and the weather conditions outside your choices are pretty limited.

Qmix 107.3 is sometimes the only option with over the air stations in our area (not including satellite, or HD) but with WZPL 99.5, i94 93.9, Radio Now 100.9 being out of Indianapolis their signals aren't as strong to always make it to Columbus.

The further you go out into the county the limited you get, but Qmix 107.3 will reach all the way to Greenwood, to Scottsburg area making it the dominating choice to hear.

This past weekend Y106 left the air and so did 104.9 The River, all to be relaunched today with a new format. WIN 104.9 now is a direct competitor with Qmix offering up today's hit music with artists like Adele, Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson and Train. (They need better radio voices)

I for one can't wait to hear their morning show, I wonder, will it be better than The Q-Wake up Crew? Good Chance.

How will this affect Reising Radio Partners, Inc who owns Qmix 107.3 and other stations - Qmix has been known to play a majority of songs from the 90's, early 2000's frequently with the occasional current hits of today. While the hits we are hearing on Qmix aren't played as soon as they are released on other stations, they are playing more recently released songs.

WIN 104.9 hasn't played anything so far we don't hear on Qmix, but it is their first day - if they start playing more newer released songs they will steal listeners from Qmix. It is time for the competition to kick in gear and stop killing the air with the Colts on Sunday, if they do I will switch.

Let's not forget when Korn Country launched a County Station competing against WKKG

Dumb move, if you ask me. Now there are THREE radio stations that play that same garbage Qmix plays, and NONE for me to listen to anymore. No diversification for the masses.

Perhaps this will make for some better competition and better DJ's. The voice-tracked juke box at RRP is boring. Columbus has not had decent on air talent since Nate and Dawn were on QMIX.
