Based on information from an Indiana State Police report, we received, Trooper Seth Davidson, said 2 were injuried after a driver tried to avoid an animal in the road.

John Gaffney, 32, said he lost contol when he attempted to avoid hitting a coyote, he struck a sign, jumped a ditch, flew into the air, hitting a utility pole and landing on a nearby tractor, through all of this Marcia Gaffney,28 was ejected from their Blazer on Indiana 11 near County Road 200.

Marcia suffered head injuries, and 5-year-old Claira Stout who was also in the vehicle suffered abdominal and head injuries; both were taken to Schneck Medical Center for treatment.

John Gaffney, was not injured, but the coyote was still struck and killed.

It's a tough decision when it comes to avoid hitting an animal with your vehicle.

It's you or them, I understand trying to save an animal at all costs. Losing your life isn't worth the risk or costs.

We pray for a speedy recovery. Photo by Indiana State Police
