Spice induced psychosis leads Firefighter to pulling the trigger

The everyday dangers of this man made synthetic drug can reach into everyone's homes if allowed. This is a serious drug and while this man is lucky to be alive, if you smoke it, you may not be so lucky. Think twice, five times before smoking this horrific drug.

There are some things worse than death.  On Sunday, February 19 at 9pm, a man sat down to “smoke a bowl”.  Because Spice is legal in his state and marijuana is illegal, Spice was in his bowl.  Right after taking his first hit, he lost touch with reality.

While attempting to summon help, his wife was accidentally locked out of the home.  She heard gunshots.  Her husband had taken a Glock 9mm to his chin.  He was still alive.  He checked on their sleeping son, and was able to open the front door before losing consciousness.

This man is not a drug abuser by any stretch of the imagination.  He smoked a legal compound.  His life and that of his family is forever altered.  The bullet stayed in his left frontal lobe.  His jaw was shattered.  His left eye was quite mangled.

Spice can occasionally induce a paranoid psychosis.  It is not marijuana.  It contains synthetic chemicals.

The goal of smoking Spice is to induce a “high”.  One never knows whether it will be a desired effect, or that of the psychosis.  Some states have banned Spice, only to have the manufacturers alter the chemical makeup, creating a new, legal drug.  This compound is sold at gas stations and head shops, apparently in our local area as well.

Spice is not generally smoked by lowlifes, druggies, or whatever you call them.  It is undetectable in standard drug screens and although it is nothing like marijuana, Spice is often smoked in place of pot.

This man that shot himself is a father, son, husband, brother, friend, firefighter, and EMT.  On Tuesday, he had surgery to remove the bullet from his brain.

Although his eye was saved, it will most likely never be functional.  His little boy is wondering where his daddy is.  His family is spending their days at the hospital and preparing for a life of rehabilitation.  It is unknown what his personality will be, and he will probably never be able to save another life, as he has done every single day that he has been a firefighter.

I won’t tell you to run to your congressman or anything like that, but I will ask that you be aware of what this is and the ease of accessibility.  Educate yourself on the truly dangerous drugs.  Realize that sometimes death isn’t a worst case scenario.

I have tried this once and its so true what you have said in the article. I thought I was going to die! It affects everyone different and someone will read my post while the smoking this crap and they will say noway spice is bad. I thought my heart was going to beat right out of my chest, and I had terrible paranoia along with the feeing that someone was in my house. I was home alone and there was noone with me. My chest burned and my stomach was on fire I laid in the floor and prayed for forgiveness and I swore if I lived through this stupid experiment I would never touch the crap again. I woke up 4 hours later with severe muscle twitches and weird feelings in my body. To this day I think I had a mild stroke or something I didn't feel right for about a week. Please if you are considering to smoke this legal drug that should be illegal DON'T DO IT!!!!
